Clinician Portal
Refractory chronic cough (RCC) is a persistent cough that continues despite appropriate evaluation and treatment of associated conditions or remains unexplained after a thorough diagnostic workup. RCC is increasingly recognized as a disorder of cough hypersensitivity, in which sensory pathways involved in the cough reflex become overly responsive and cause otherwise harmless stimuli to trigger coughing. As understanding of RCC continues to evolve, keeping up with current guidance and emerging mechanism-based therapies may help clinicians optimize care for patients with chronic cough.
